LiveTiles Aims to Secure Microsoft Teams (via Qpute.com)


Intelligent workplace software firm LiveTiles has teamed up with security firm Nucleus Cyber to better protect Microsoft Teams, the communication and collaboration platform that offers workplace chat, video meetings and file storage.

The joint solution — being showcased Dec. 4 at the Content Protection Summit in Los Angeles — promises to combine governance and information protection, to more easily provision and apply data-centric security for Microsoft Teams. The goal is to secure sensitive content and data within the platform, without hindering productivity, the companies said.

“This latest collaboration between LiveTiles and Nucleus Cyber is a natural extension of our existing technology integration,” said LiveTiles president Dan Diefendorf. “Partnering with Nucleus Cyber allows our customers to easily add data-centric security at the time of provisioning to protect sensitive information shared within the platform from unauthorized sharing internally and externally.”

The joint solution — Secure Collaboration for Teams — looks to give Microsoft Teams users the ability to collaborate with sensitive data without violating governance or IT security policies, with the ability to create and provision secure Teams sites, ensure metadata-based findability and systematic governance, and apply granular security to confidential files and chats.

“Microsoft recently announced over 20 million people use Teams on a daily basis, up from 13 million in July. Its explosive growth requires organizations to be able to quickly provision new sites and secure the content shared within them from the start,” said Kurt Mueffelmann, CEO of Nucleus Cyber. “While Teams provides powerful collaboration capabilities, if sharing is left unchecked it can create serious security and compliance issues.
