Quantum computing materials development company Archer Materials has begun performing measurements required to build an operational, room-temperature quantum computing chip.
The company said today in a statement that measurements related to control of qubits, the basic unit of quantum information, on ‘components’ of its future quantum chip, known as a CQ chip.
Archer expanded its research relationships from the University of Sydney to include the Ecole Polytechnique Federal de Lausanne in Switzerland in January.
Now it will conduct specialised quantum measurement at the University of New South Wales.
Archer CEO Mohammad Choucair said: “We are strategically expanding Archer’s direct access to infrastructure, specialised measurement instruments, and internationally recognised researchers to accelerate performing the quantum measurements required to successfully develop the CQ chip.
“…as a result the quantum measurements…have commenced and are on track.”
The quantum measurements focus on electronic and magnetic control of carbon-based qubit components, which will ultimately form part of Archer’s chip.
Archer has also joined the Sydney Knowledge Hub, a co-working space for companies collaborating with the University of Sydney.
