Spotswood Boys Tennis Celebrates Seniors Day With A Victory Over Keansburg
SPOTSWOOD, NJ – The Spotswood High School boys varsity tennis team defeated Keansburg High School 5-0 on Thursday. Jason Acheampong, Bryan Chan and Nick Zubrzycki all came out on top of their singles matches. Luke Evanego and Connor Lennan won their first doubles match while Matthew Olejarczyk and Corey Miller were victorious in their second double matchup.
Thursday’s match with Keansburg High School was the last of the season for the Chargers. After missing last season due to the coronavirus shutdown, Spotswood finished the 2021 season with a 9-7 overall record. The match with Keansburg was also Senior Day. Senior Day is an annual event at Spotswood High School where soon-to-be graduating seniors are honored for their contributions to the Chargers’ athletic program.
Evanego, Lennan and Zubrzycki all played their final tennis matches on May 27. In the fall, Evanego will be attending Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken. He plans on majoring in Computer Science. Lennan is headed to Rutgers University. He will be majoring in Computer Science and Physics as an undergrad before earning his masters in Quantum Computing. Zubrzycki will be attending the New Jersey Institute of Technology’s Ying Wu College of Computing Science in Newark. He plans on majoring in Computer Science. Zubrzycki is also the recipient of a four-year Merit Scholarship Award.
The Spotswood High School boys varsity tennis team will hold its annual spring awards banquet on June 3.
