The first woman venture partner at SoftBank and former MD of Facebook Kirthiga Reddy announced Saturday she is penning her journey down in a new book titled The Opportunity Engine.
Based in California, United States, Reddy hails from India and is recognised among the country’s most notable names in tech development and growth. As the first employee at Facebook India, Reddy’s initial role in pushing the social media giant’s operations from base level to skyscraping success is marked.
This part of her life also forms the themes around which her book is centred, as per a social media post. It would chart Reddy’s “experience being #Facebook‘s first employee in #India, MD of Facebook India & South Asia, for over six years and current vantage point as a growth-stage #investor,” she tweeted.

A Stanford graduate, Reddy joined Japanese multinational SoftBank three years ago as a venture partner for their $100 billion Vision Fund – the first-ever woman in that role. Read more on that here. She is also the co-founder of seed fund investment F7 ventures and serves on the board of several establishments, including WeWork and Fungible.
At her time during SBIA, Reddy writes she led investments in rapidly growing sectors, ranging from quantum computing to enterprise software and gaming. “I’ve had the opportunity to manage a $5B+ portfolio, work with bold entrepreneurs who are redefining the future, and be part of the journey — including companies reaching unicorn status and going public,” she adds.
“While I was the first female Partner on the Investing team, I am not the last,” she says.
